The Plains Indians lived a nomadic life, following the vast herds of buffalo across the unspoiled mountains and prairies of North America.
In the spring and summer months, entire tribes moved with the buffalo, which were woven into nearly every aspect of their lives. Some of these communities numbered in the tens of thousands, and their buffalo-hide teepees stretched across the land for miles, forming vibrant communities on the open plains.

This piece is David’s interpretation of the Native American buffalo hunter. The title reflects the power and magnificence embodied by all three figures in the scene: the buffalo, the horse, and the hunter.
The American Indian was an extraordinary hunter and warrior. The Plains tribes depended heavily on the American bison for survival, using it for food, tools, clothing, and spiritual practices. While many artists have depicted the buffalo hunter throughout history, this work represents David’s personal interpretation of that enduring relationship.
